Great precision and accuracy, fast response times, and ease of use mean that thermocouples are great to use in a huge array of applications. Choosing a thermocouple comes down to a few factors. The first is the type. There are several different thermocouple types out there, the most common being Type K, Type J, Type T, Type N, and Type E. They also have different temperature ranges to be aware of. The junction style and sheath material are important as well, so know the differences there.

How They Work

Temperature probes generally work by sensing something that it is in contact with. There is a change to the characteristics of that environment or object, and sensing elements will respond to a change in overall temperature.
